The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
