AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the official statement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden sect.
The questline centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Features
Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This patch also brings the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Crossovers
This signifies not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
